Seva Kendra(CKSK) supported by Kuwait Canara welfare Association (KCWA)
organized the disbursement of Suvidya 2023 interest-free loan at
Vimukti, Belthangady for higher education of the economically poor
youths of the Diocese of Mangalore on Sunday, July 16.
As many as 17 students have applied for the Suvidya 2023 scheme. The
programme began with a prayer. Mrs. Veena Serrao, KCWA Education
Fund co-ordinator and Nominated Committee Member Mr. Santhosh Thomas
Dsouza were pesent. Rev. Fr. Chetan, Editor of Sevak Magazine and
manager of Assisi Press, along with Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the
Director of CKSK and Assistant Director Fr. Rohan Lobo shared the
dais. Fr. Rohan Lobo welcomed the guests and gave the introductory
talk.
KCWA Education Fund Co-ordinator was honoured by Fr. Chetan for
their wonderful support.
Mrs. Veena, in her address, encouraged students to gain higher
education. Fr. Chetan said, true happiness consists in giving and we
must give till it hurts. He also exhorted that receiving hands one
day must turn as giving hands.
Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the Director, thanked KCWA for their
dedicated service towards the poor youths of the diocese of
Mangalore in pursuing higher education. He also wished all the
members of the KCWA for their concern towards the homeland issues.
Mrs. Laveena, the co-ordinator, explained in detail the requirements
and guidelines that have to be followed by all the Suvidya
applicants. A total of Rs 741000 was disbursed for this year.
Lastly, the students were distributed with cheques as per their
claims.
Ms. Poornima compered the program and Mrs. Laveena delivered a vote
of thanks.
