Background. . .
CKSK
staff conducted a preliminary survey in Belthangady area. Initially
they visited the Gram Panchayat and listed out the families with the
differently able children. In the next step the staff personally
visited these children’s houses and interacted with their parents,
guardians and siblings and gathered the basic information related to
the children. These families are very poor in economical status and
they cannot afford for their children’s rehabilitation/education by
sending them to the distant special schools located very far from
their homes by providing school fees and hostel expenses. Hence all
the beneficiaries are selected after the thorough discussion and
deliberation with the Self Help Group cluster Child Wellbeing
Committees (CWBCs), Parents and teachers association (PTA) and with
the support of the Organization staff members. This is purely
democratic in nature where everybody is entitled whatever decisions
are made for the betterment of the beneficiary. The beneficiaries
are ranging from 4 -18 years of age both male and female children.
