“Dampathi Athithya,”
a unique program that aims mainly to enlighten young couples on the
concept of a healthy child, was held on July 3, 2024, with the
collaboration of the District Health and Family Welfare Department
of D.K., Taluk Health Department of Belthangady, the State
Government employee’s multi-purpose cooperative society of
Belthangady, and Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra at Sri. Dharmasthala
Manjunatha Auditorium, Belthangady. Dr. Sowjanya Kumari, Taluk
Health Officer, Belthangady, presided over the program. Mr. Bhavani
Shankar, Panchayat Executive Officer, Belthangady, inaugurated the
program. Dr. Jayakeerthi Jain, President, State Government
Employee’s Multi-purpose Cooperative Society, Belthangady, and Fr.
Rohan Lobo, Assistant Director, CKSK Vimukti, Belthangady, were the
guests of the program.
Dr. Durga Prasad, Medical Superintendent, Lady Goschen Hospital
Mangalore, was the resource person for the training, and he
explained the need for safe motherhood, unwanted pregnancy, prenatal
care, complicated pregnancy, birth control of defective children,
child birth and postnatal care, family welfare programs, and the
different facilities available in Lady Goschen Hospital Mangalore.
All the pregnant women were provided with a kit consisting of
protein powder, fruits, and vegetables. Mr. Ajay Program Manager,
THO, facilitated the program, and Ms. Ammi Block Health Education
Officer organized the program. Staff of Community Health Center
Belthangady and ASHA workers of the Taluka also attended the
program.
