On November 23,
2024, Vimukti Self Help Group Trust held its Belli Habba (Silver
Jubilee) celebration at Krishnanugraha Hall in Ujire. The Vimukti
SHG Trust members began the celebration with a spiritual dance at
10.30 am. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the Director of CKSK, in his
introductory speech recalled various successful events, programs,
and interventions that gave impetus to the members of the Vimukti
SHG Trust. He remembered with gratitude the late Rev. Fr. Theophilus
Pereira, the founder of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK), and the
late Rev. Fr. Joel Pinto, the founder of Vimukti SHG Trust. Though
Vimukti SHG Trust took root in Kalmanja village over the years, it
has spread to various districts where rural poor women took humble
shelter under the umbrella of Vimukti SHG Trust. Gradually, its
roots spread wide and far and were deepened and started to bear
results in the field of social and economic empowerment. Vimukti SHG
Trust members, though initially the beneficiaries, later began to
think of how to contribute to society. Over the years they have
worked strenuously to introduce various successful poor-friendly
schemes like self-help-employment activities, Vidya snehi, an
interest-free loan for the higher education rural poor youths,
Arrogya Nidhi for the better health of the rural poor women and
their families, etc. They too played a major role in constantly
requesting CKSK, the mother organization, to establish DAYA Special
School. As a result, today we have Daya Special School, which caters
to the basic physical, medical, and educational needs of the special
children.
Later the Jubilee celebration was inaugurated by Mr. K Pratapsinha
Nayak, MLC, along with Vimukti SHG Trust President Ms. Shali, Rev.
Fr. Alwyn Dias President Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra, Mr. Harish
Kumar Ex MLC, Mr. Rakshith Shivaram Founder Best Foundation, Ms.
Ashwini DSouza, Advocate, Fr.Vinod Mascarenhas and Fr.Rohan Lobo.
Soon after the inauguration, Ms. Ashwini D'souza Advocate Moodbidre
addressed the audience on the subject of empowerment of women
through self-help groups. She said in her speech that women have
come out of the four walls and gained knowledge, resourcefulness,
earned and secured their money, and thus raised their self-esteem.
She congratulated Vimukti SHG members for raising their social and
economic status and living a dignified life in the family. Further,
she said that though you are on the path of empowerment and
development, you have to strive hard to uproot all those gender
discrimination and superstitious beliefs that are obstacles to the
empowerment of women. She called upon all gathered women to turn
this silver into golden, platinum...
Mr. Pratapsinha MLC recalled his closeness with CKSK, congratulated
all Vimukti SHG members, and wished them all well. Mr. Harish Kumar
asked women gathered to make use of all opportunities and facilities
introduced by CKSK and also the government. He appreciated all the
good work done by both CKSK and Vimukti. Mr. Rakshith Shivaram, in
his speech, thanked Vimukti for establishing DAYA SPECIAL SCHOOL and
bringing smiles into the spaces of deprived, neglected special
children. He also congratulated Vimukti and DAYA Special School for
having received the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 2024. He assured his
full support towards Daya Special Children and their wellbeing. He
finally called upon Vimukti SHG women to make full use of Karnataka
Government women empowerment guarantees and lead a happy life. Rev.
Fr. Alwyn Dias, the President of CKSK, while congratulating the
women's body, asked them to always dream big and let all your dreams
come true, and it will because you have the solid backing of your
experienced staff and directors. Lastly, he thanked all the women
office bearers for continuously standing by its Mother Organization
and joining hands for their development and empowerment. The
dignitaries on the dias facilitated all the former and present
Vimukti Presidents, Secretaries, Directors, and Assistant Directors
for their selfless service in building Vimukti SHG Trust. After the
Felicitation program, "Arogya Nidhi," a new health guarantee scheme
was inaugurated by the President of Vimukti SHG Trust. Soon after
the stage program, a sumptuous and delicious lunch was served to all
the audience. Finally, all members of Vimukti SHG Trust staged a
variety of colorful cultural programs. Ms. Merin, the councilor,
completed the program, and Ms. Prameela gave a vote of thanks.
