CAPUCHIN KRISHIK SEVA KENDRA ®
Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK) is a voluntary organization run by
Franciscan Capuchin Fathers of Karnataka Province, registered as a
Society in 1976. CKSK is situated in Dakshina Kannada District; the
taluk is at the eastern end of the coastal district and at the foothills
of the Western Mountain Ranges. Since 1969 it has initiated its effort
for the development of the economically poor and the backward people,
irrespective of their caste and creed. Ever since, it has been working
without stop for the development of the poor by considering the
different issues, programs based on the need of the people at different
stages.

Vimukti SHG Trust
Organizes Cancer Awareness Session in Observance of World Cancer Day
A
Cervical and Breast Cancer Awareness Program was organized to sensitize
women about early detection, prevention, and management of cancer.
Cancer remains a major public health concern worldwide, and increasing
awareness is a crucial step toward reducing associated mortality. The
program aimed to empower participants with knowledge on symptoms, risk
factors, screening methods, and available treatment options. The program
was conducted in the month of December at Mundaje- Mularu, Guripalla,
Kolpadi, Baddyar, Bangady,Thekkaru and Gardady clusters of Vimukti SHG
Trust, Belthangady. The program was aimed to create awareness about
cervical and breast cancer among women and the community, to educate
participants about early signs and symptoms, to promote regular
screening such as
Pap smear tests and mammograms and to provide
information on available treatment and support
services.
The mobilisers of Vimukti SHG Trust, Ms.
Rohini, Ms. Mohini, Ms. Savitha and Ms. Vasanthi facilitated the
program. This awareness session was attended by 94 women of 7 clusters.

World Disability
Day celebration at Daya Special School
On
the occasion of the World Day of Persons with Disabilities on December
3rd 2025, the Daya Special School a unit of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra
(R), celebrated World Disability Day at Daya Special School on 4th
December 2025. Mrs. Lavina Jyoti Fernandes, Program Coordinator of CKSK,
Mrs. Merin M.P, Counsellor of Daya Special School, Student
representatives Kumari Ganya, Master. Afraz and school teacher’s
representative Mrs. Dhanya T.V were present on the dais. The program was
inaugurated by Mrs. Lavina Jyoti Fernandes by handing over and unveiling
placards with various positive slogans to the children. The speech
therapist, Mrs. Raksha Aruna Poojary, extended her greetings on the
occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities,
explaining the significance of this day and the purpose of celebrating
it across the world. Then Mrs. Merin spoke and highlighted the various
activities and programs that Daya Special School has organized to
brighten the lives of special needs children and their parents. She
explained the hard work of the director and staff of the institution and
thanked all the teaching and non-teaching staff for their selfless work
towards the differently able children. The different sports competitions
were held at the school on the occasion of the International Day of
Persons with Disabilities and on the occasion of World disability day on
December 03rd at Town hall, Mangalore the winners received the awards.
The awards, which were presented at the Mangalore, were presented to the
children at Daya School by the guest, Mrs. Lavina Jyoti, and the winners
were congratulated. The program was concluded with the cultural program
of the children, followed by
distribution of sweets. 100 differently able
children and staff of the school
were participated in the program. Special Educator Ms. Jayamani welcomed
everyone to the program, school physical educator Ms. Jenvira thanked
the gathering, and teacher Mrs. Suraksha hosted the program.

Vimukti SHG Trust
Organizes Diabetes Awareness Session in Observance of World Diabetes Day
Belthangady,
November:
A comprehensive Diabetes Awareness Session was organized by Vimukti
SHG Trust during the month of November with the objective of educating
women on diabetes prevention, early diagnosis, and healthy lifestyle
practices. The programme was conducted as part of the observance of
World Diabetes Day on November 14, supporting the global initiative to
raise awareness about diabetes. The awareness sessions were held across
six clusters of the Trust—Halepete, Patrame, Perlabaipady, Arambody,
Indabettu, and Kanyaadi 1—ensuring widespread community participation.
During the sessions, participants were provided essential information on
recognizing early symptoms of diabetes, including excessive thirst,
frequent urination, constant tiredness, and unexpected weight loss.
Mobilisers of the organizati on, Ms. Rohini, Ms. Savitha, and Ms. Mohini,
guided the attendees on potential long-term complications associated
with untreated diabetes and emphasized the importance of medication
adherence and regular medical check-ups. ASHA activist Ms. Vijaya from
Indabettu was also present and encouraged women to make effective use of
the healthcare services offered at Primary
Health Centres (PHCs). The participants expressed appreciation to
Vimukti SHG Trust for hosting a valuable and informative programme aimed
at improving community health and empowering women with essential
knowledge regarding diabetes management.

successful in providing various facilities to the children at Daya
Special School - Rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas

parent’s meeting and World Caregiver's Day celebration were organized at
Daya Special School on 29.10.2025. On the occasion, the Director of Daya
Special School, Rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, wished all the caregivers a
happy World Caregiver's Day. He said, the Daya Special School has been
providing various services to 150 specially gifted children for the past
08 years. Many kind-hearted donors have given up their small desires and
aspirations and given the money they saved to our organization to
provide better services to these special children. In return for their
sacrifice, today we all work harder than we could for these children in
the organization to capacitate them to overcome their disabilities. We
along with our qualified staff, children are given all the trainings and
therapies they need in the school to live well in the society like
everyone else. The role of all parents and caregivers of these children
is very important in our journey. Today, we honour all our parents on
this auspicious occasion and wish them that, all the services they
provide to these children to be considered by the God and may their
efforts be rewarded in hundred folds. Speaking at the event, Mr. Subhkar,
the president of the school teacher parent association, expressed his
gratitude for the help and cooperation of the director and all the staff
of this institution. And he said, because
of the service they provide in the school to each of our children, today
our children have been able to achieve progress in all aspects and for
that we all are indebted to this institution. All the parents and
caregivers of the children were honoured with flowers by the
director rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas. Student Kumari Rashmi sang a song
that symbolized the bond between parents and children.

General Body
Meeting of Vimukti SHG Trust
The
General Body Meeting of Vimukti SHG Trust was held on 19th October 2025
at Vimukti Sabha Bhavan, Belthangady. The meeting was presided over by
Mrs. Shali, the President of Vimukti SHG Trust. Rev. Fr. Vinod
Mascarenhas, Director of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra, Laila Unit, and
Rev. Fr. Rohan Lobo, Assistant Director of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra,
Belthangady, graced the occasion and shared the dais. The program
commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Prameela. Mrs. Raina Lobo,
Secretary of Vimukti SHG Trust, presented the annual report and the
minutes of the previous meeting. The accountant then provided a detailed
explanation of the cluster meetings, loans, audit process, and profit
disbursement, followed by the presentation of the estimated budget for
the upcoming year. Rev. Fr. Rohan Lobo spoke about innovative ways to
raise funds for Vidyasnehi—an interest-free educational loan program
initiated in 2020. In his address, Rev. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas emphasized
the importance of prioritizing education for children over material
comforts and encouraged all groups to maintain proper documentation.
In her presidential address, Mrs. Shali urged members to extend their
cooperation in implementing new initiatives and moving forward
collectively. A total of 57 members participated in the meeting. The
event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Annamma, followed by a
sumptuous lunch.

Diwali
Celebration at Daya Special School
Diwali
the festival of light was celebrated on October 18th, 2025 at Daya
Special School. Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the Director of Daya Special
School presided over the program. The chief guest Fr. Paul Sebastian
D'Souza, the parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Manjotti and Mrs.
Sujatha, special educator Daya Special School were present on the stage.
The program was started with the prayer song by the students and the
teachers and the program was symbolically inaugurated by lighting lamp
and the diyas which symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and
good over evil. Fr. Vinod Mascarenas, the director of the organization,
explained the importance of the day. He wished everyone a happy Diwali
by conveying the message that since it is difficult to bring people
together in the community as we in the Organization use to do earlier in
the community celebrations, we celebrate Diwali in our school with all
children without considering their caste or creed. Diwali should not be
simply a celebration but it should bring a positive changes in our
attitudes and behaviours which always think about others and their
happiness and pain. And we should teach our children a moral of
spreading the light in other’s lives rather make others to suffer. The
chief guest of the program, Fr. Paul Sebastian D’Souza, demonstrated
various types of magic and explained the speciality of the Diwali
festival to the children through his magic tricks. At the end, the
students entertained everyone with
their songs and dances. All the teaching and non-teaching
staff of the school and special
children were present in the
program. Special Educator Mrs. Chiranjeevi welcomed the gathering and
the supportive teacher Mrs. Suraksha thanked everyone and the program
was hosted by the special educator Ms. Priya.
